The Story Behind AGAPÉ Smile Spa: A Name Inspired by Love and Service

When you hear the name “AGAPÉ Smile Spa,” you might wonder: What does “agapé” mean? And why was it chosen as the cornerstone of our practice? For us, the name isn’t just a label—it’s the heart and soul of everything we do.

What Does AGAPÉ Mean?

The word “agapé” (pronounced ah-gah-pay) comes from the Greek language and represents the highest form of love. Unlike other forms of love that may depend on feelings or conditions, agapé is unconditional. It’s selfless, enduring, and all-encompassing—a love that seeks the well-being of others without expectation. This timeless concept is what inspired the foundation of our practice. For me personally, agapé reflects my greatest life goal: to be and to give love unconditionally in all that I do.

The Inspiration Behind the Name

The idea for AGAPÉ Smile Spa came to life in October 2023, while I was on vacation with my family on safari in Namibia. It was a time when I was grappling with feelings of discontent, longing, and gratitude, and something that stood out profoundly was the love and kindness, and JOY  we received from every single person we encountered on our trip, regardless of their socio-economic status. This overwhelming sense of their natural loving being left a lasting impression on me.

For months I was contemplating the Smile Spa name and on that trip I was driving my family a little crazy with all of the different names I had come up with. I wanted a name that reflected my Mexican Christian heritage and upbringing while being easy to say and remember in English. As I shared my thoughts with my family, my mom suddenly shouted out, “You should call it AGAPÉ!” The moment felt perfect. The name captured everything I hoped to bring to the practice: love, service, and connection.

The word “smile” symbolizes the heart of what we do: creating healthy, beautiful smiles that radiate confidence and joy. And “spa” reflects our commitment to making every visit a comfortable and relaxing experience. Together, these words encapsulate our mission to offer a level of care that goes beyond expectations.
